Cristian Terheș, europarlamentar și președinte al PNCR – Partidul National Conservator Român, a solicitat în cadrul dezbaterilor din Parlamentul European protejarea consumatorilor europeni, în special a copiilor, de produsele ilegale care circulă pe platformele de comerț electronic.
În Parlamentul European a avut loc o dezbatere pe tema „Protejarea consumatorilor din UE împotriva practicilor anumitor platforme de comerț electronic: cazul păpușilor sexuale cu aspect de copil, al armelor și al altor produse și materiale ilegale”. Europarlamentarul român Cristian Terheș, membru al Grupului ECR din Parlamentul European, a avut o intervenție în care a subliniat că deși protejarea consumatorilor europeni, în special a copiilor, împotriva produselor ilegale de pe platformele de comerț electronic este o prioritate absolută, rezoluția și unele dintre amendamentele sale se îndepărtează de acest obiectiv fundamental, introducând teme ideologice și propuneri care nu au legătură directă cu siguranța minorilor.
„Deși susțin necesitatea de a proteja consumatorii europeni și, mai presus de toate, copiii noștri, de produsele ilegale care circulă pe platformele de comerț electronic, am votat împotriva mai multor amendamente din această rezoluție privind protecția consumatorilor din UE, deoarece acestea se îndepărtează de obiectivul esențial al dosarului. În loc să se concentreze pe prădătorii și pe eliminarea produselor periculoase de pe piață, textul introduce dezbateri ideologice mai largi, care nu au legătură cu protecția minorilor în mediul online. Unele amendamente introduc aspecte legale pe piața muncii și condiționări de mediu impuse companiilor multinaționale, ca și cum aceste aspecte ar fi direct legate de prevenirea vânzării produselor ilegale ‑ nu sunt. Nu îi vom proteja mai bine pe copii introducând mereu, în asemenea dosare importante, utopii ideologice neomarxiste. M-am opus, de asemenea, încercării de a acorda Comisiei Europene puteri centralizate excesive în ceea ce privește investigarea și sancționarea. UE trebuie să acționeze ferm împotriva celor care protejează și exploatează copiii abuzați și profită de pe urma lor, dar fără a transforma această problemă serioasă într-una de oportunitate de promovare a ideologiilor utopice marxiste!”, a declarat europarlamentarul Cristian Terheș.

Cristian Terheș – on protecting European consumers, especially children, against illegal products on e-commerce platforms
Cristian Terheș, MEP and president of the PNCR – Romanian National Conservative Party, called during debates in the European Parliament for the protection of European consumers, especially children, from illegal products circulating on e-commerce platforms.
A debate took place in the European Parliament on the topic of “Protecting EU consumers against the practices of certain e-commerce platforms: the case of child-like sex dolls, weapons and other illegal products and materials”. Romanian MEP Cristian Terheș , a member of the ECR Group in the European Parliament, made a statement in which he stressed that although protecting European consumers, especially children, against illegal products on e-commerce platforms is an absolute priority, the resolution and some of its amendments deviate from this fundamental objective, introducing ideological themes and proposals that are not directly related to the safety of minors.
“While I support the need to protect European consumers and, above all, our children, from illegal products circulating on e-commerce platforms, I voted against several amendments in this resolution on EU consumer protection, as they deviate from the essential objective of the file. Instead of focusing on predators and removing dangerous products from the market, the text introduces broader ideological debates that have no connection with the protection of minors online. Some amendments introduce legal aspects of the labour market and environmental conditions imposed on multinational companies, as if these aspects were directly linked to preventing the sale of illegal products – they are not. We will not protect children better by constantly introducing neo-Marxist ideological utopias into such important files. I also opposed the attempt to give the European Commission excessive centralised powers in terms of investigation and sanctioning. The EU must act firmly against those who protect, exploit and profit from abused children, „but without transforming this serious problem into an opportunity to promote Marxist utopian ideologies!” , declared MEP Cristian Terheș.
